Review of the Film:
Babygirl is a new erotic drama from director Halina Reijn, best known for Bodies Bodies Bodies. The film features Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson in a tense exploration of a torrid office affair. Kidman stars as Romy, a high-powered boss at a New York robotics firm, while Dickinson plays Samuel, a charismatic intern. The plot revolves around their illicit relationship, which threatens both Romy’s marriage to her theater-director husband, played by Antonio Banderas, and her professional life.
Reijn’s approach to the film is refreshingly unvarnished, offering a stark contrast to the glossy thrillers of the 1980s. Instead of indulging in melodramatic tropes, Babygirl delves into the messy, uncomfortable reality of its characters.
